How it works

From "can they do that?" to a clear answer in a minute.

  1. 01Tell us what happened

In your own words. Add the notice, a photo, a video or the WhatsApp chat export. Nothing goes to a lawyer until you choose to send it.

  2. 02Know where you stand

Where you likely stand, what to do today, and the exact law behind it. Every citation comes from our curated library of statutes and court rulings.

  3. 03Settle it, or escalate

Share the law in your society group as a calm message or a formal letter. If it goes further, your whole case file is ready for an advocate.

Fault first

The answer leads with who's in the wrong.

Including when it's you. A straight answer is more useful than a comforting one.

No invented law

A curated library of 14 laws and 7 court rulings on pet disputes.

Answers can't cite anything outside it. Each entry shows its source, and rulings are labelled binding or persuasive for your state.

Share the law

Post it in the society group, calmly.

Friendly or firm. Short message, full write-up, or a letter to the committee.

A case file that builds itself

Every incident goes on one timeline, with evidence fingerprinted.

When you need an advocate, hand them the whole record. You don't explain it twice.

FAQ

Questions pet parents ask.

Is this legal advice?

No. PetLegal gives AI-generated legal information: what the law says and how it usually applies. It is not representation or a substitute for a qualified advocate. For an important decision, check with one.

Can my society really not ban pets?

Animal Welfare Board of India guidance says societies and RWAs can't ban pets, bar them from lifts or common areas, or charge pet fees, even by majority vote. The Kerala High Court has held such bye-laws unenforceable. Birds, cats, rabbits and fish included. You still have duties: leash or carry, vaccinate where needed, and clean up.

Which languages can I use?

You can type or speak in English, Hindi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Odia, Urdu or Assamese, in its own script or in Roman letters. Your account is saved exactly as you wrote it. Full answers come back in the language you choose. The offline quick guide still answers in English. Voice typing depends on your browser: it works best in Chrome, and where it isn't available you can record a voice note for your case instead. The site's menus are in English for now.

How do you avoid made-up law?

Answers can only cite entries from our law library. Anything else is removed before you see it, each entry links to its source, and we tell you when something isn't covered.

Does it work in my state?

Central law applies everywhere. We flag which High Court rulings bind your state and which are only persuasive, and we flag state-specific issues like rent law.

What does an advocate do?

Advocate help is coming soon. When it opens, an advocate will read your full timeline and evidence, answer in writing, draft legal notices and police or consumer complaints, and represent you if it goes to court. You'll pay per matter, with the fee shown upfront.

Where is my data kept?

Your cases are saved to your account on this device. Nothing goes to a lawyer until you choose to send a case. You can copy or delete everything from your account at any time.
